The Chestermere Multicultural Fashion Show 2026 delivered what it promised. It connected community through cultural fashion in support of mental health. And it was fun.
The inaugural Chestermere Multicultural Fashion Show 2026 was proof of the vibrant and caring community that Chestermere is. Local community members strutted with their cultural finery down the runway to the applause of the audience. From young to old, these models showed their pride in their culture and their sense of belonging. The audience expressed their admiration and acknowledgement of such beautiful diversity.
The master of ceremony, deputy Mayor Ritesh Narayan, welcomed everyone to this event in support of multiculturalism as enshrined in Canadian laws and practices. Anisha Gardner, ASIST Trained
Program & Communications Facilitator from Synergy, thanked everyone for their contributions to this event, cultural diversity, and mental health. Susan Shipley-Morgan, Connection Care counselor, spoke on the importance of mental health and its connection to cultural exchange.
To finish the night, Shirley Hill performed a spectacular ritual hoop dance. Adrian and Katelin Trange performed two songs, one Filipino and one English, with majesty. Aria Zhang captured the audience's attention with her chinese sword dance.
A raffle with prizes from Chestermere organizations was held. (Of note, I won a gift card.)
In the end, the show was both spectacular and heart-warming. The little girl in the red dress dancing to the music up on the stage said it all.
