About Membership
What Membership Means in Rotary
Joining the Rotary Club of Chestermere is more than just attending a meeting; it’s about becoming part of a community of "People of Action." Your membership operates on three distinct levels, each offering unique opportunities for service, growth, and connection.
1. The Local Level: Rotary Club of Chestermere
This is your home base. It’s where you build deep friendships with neighbors and local business leaders while tackling projects that directly impact our city.
Meetings: We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 PM. We alternate between in-person meetings at the Synergy Office (often with a social dinner beforehand) and convenient virtual meetings via Zoom.
Local Impact: As a member, you get hands-on with projects like our Life Jacket Loaner Station, supporting the Chestermere Food Bank, or developing the Family Bike Park.
The Vibe: We are a welcoming, non-partisan, and diverse group. We host guest speakers who keep us informed about local issues, from economic development to community wellness.
2. The District Level: Rotary District 5360
Our club is part of District 5360, which encompasses over 70 clubs and 1,000+ members across Southern Alberta and Western Saskatchewan.
Expanded Network: You aren't limited to Chestermere. You have the right to visit any club in the district, allowing you to network with professionals from Calgary to Red Deer and beyond.
Leadership & Training: The District provides high-level leadership training (like PELs and SELs) and workshops to help you grow professionally.
District Events: Members can attend the Annual District Conference (Discon)—a high-energy weekend of keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and "Unite for Good" celebrations.
3. The International Level: Rotary International
When you put on your Rotary pin, you are one of 1.4 million members in over 200 countries. You are part of one of the largest and most respected humanitarian organizations in the world.
Global Citizenship: Your membership card is a passport. "The Pin Gets You In" means you are welcome at any of the 46,000+ Rotary clubs worldwide. It’s an instant connection for travelers and international business people.
Massive Scale Projects: You contribute to global initiatives like the eradication of Polio and Rotary’s seven areas of focus, including promoting peace and protecting the environment.
World Conventions: You have the opportunity to attend the Rotary International Convention, held in a different global city each year, bringing together thousands of Rotarians from every corner of the globe.

Regardless of the level, every Rotarian is guided by the Four-Way Test: Is it the truth? Is it fair? Will it build goodwill? Is it beneficial to all?
