Edible Forest

Over 400 edible and pollinating plant species live in this now
thriving urban edible forest pathway which was once a dry blank slate of unused untapped grass space. This year alone the gooseberries currents and apples produced pounds and pounds of fruit.

I can only imagine how much this will benefit thecommunity in the future not just the people living in the
community But also the mini pollinators they call the
Chestermere area home.

This design was a labour of love over three years. So manty volunteer hours were invested, from the planning 2-D and 3-D, consultation and conceptual planning,  drafting site consultation, volunteer coordination, and volunteer planting.

All of this was done to make the space somewhere to enjoy and learn about the many beautiful and wonderful prairie edible plant species that we are lucky to have in Alberta and which call this edible pathway their new home.

If you did not have the chance to visit the edible pathway in fall with all the beautiful fall colours please visit it in late spring to see everything in bloom. You will find it along the canal path at the very end of W. Chestermere Dr.
