Good food and fun was had at the Whitecappers Chicken Dinner night with presentations from Calgary Meals on Wheels and the Chestermere Region Food Bank. This friendly social and informative event was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chestermere.
The Chestermere Whitecappers Association hosted their Chicken Dinner for members and non-members to enjoy. The chicken and salads were tasty and filling. Neighbours were able to chat and connect. Of note, the Whitecappers board delivered this dinner as a thanks and relief for the regular serving group. Door prizes and raffles were held to add spark to the occassion.
To add to the night, Pam Derowin, programs manager, presented an update on Calgary Meals and Wheels. She discussed the growing impact the service has shown in Calgary and area. She spoke to the quality of the meals and the positive benefits of meals to families, seniors and children.
To continue, Mardi Oel, executive director, spoke about the Chestermere Region Food bank and its critical programs and services in the community. She also indicated that the Chestermere Region Food Bank handled the delivery of Meals on Wheels to Chestermere. A brochure and a menu were made available to attendees.
The Rotary Club of Chestermere, represented by Carey Hilgartner and Bill Quinney, quickly outlined the nature of their club's work. The representatives were quick to note that they provided for the ice cream and pie.
The dinner, the community, and the agencies were key signs of the good work being done in Chestermere.
