On 21 September, Rotary joins the global community in observing the International Day of Peace. Peacebuilding is one of Rotary's areas of focus and is central to our work as a humanitarian service organization. Alongside our partners, Rotary remains committed to addressing the causes of conflict and taking action to create lasting peace. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. Rotary builds peace Today, more than 1,900 alumni of the fellowship are contributing to peacebuilding and conflict prevention efforts worldwide, from grassroots initiatives in their communities to policy development at the United Nations and other international organizations. Your support creates positive change With the addition of our newest Rotary Peace Center partner at Symbiosis International University in Pune, India, the Foundation will award up to 170 fellowships annually for master's degree and certificate studies. Oct. 01, 2026 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
This discussion panel, hosted by the Kahanoff Centre, will be a timely and thoughtful discussion moderated by Angie Gelinas, CEO of the Nonprofit Chamber, on the theme What Won’t Change? — A Place to Start. Inspired by Jeff Bezos’s observation that strategy is best built on what remains constant rather than what is always shifting, this conversation will invite Calgary’s nonprofit leaders to step back from today’s uncertainty and focus on the lasting needs, missions, and partnerships that can guide the sector into the future. Register to attend on Thursday, October 1 at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Theater. The discussion starts at 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by lunch in the DJD community living room. This discussion panel will be fruitful for not-for-profit community agencies moving forward and for Chestermere Not-for-Profit Committee members contributing to the Chestermere Community Hub thinking and planning. Note: This panel is a Rotary Club of Chestermere initiative. |
